Bhanu Prakash Agarwal was pioneer and Founder-Chairman of Suvidha Group. He played a pivotal role in building up the group. He was accomplished in various professional fields. His idea behind formation of Suvidha Group was to render all financial services under one roof for making things convenient.
He was a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He was a National Scholar for the year 1981 and was also awarded scholarship by the Government of India under National Talent Search Examination.
He was a corporate consultant on various subjects both – Direct and Indirect Tax including Excise, Service Tax and Value Added Tax (VAT).
An erudite commentator he was a speaker in more than 350 seminars held all across the country on issues relating to Direct Tax, VAT and Service Tax. He conducted several one-day workshop on Service Tax, VAT and Fringe Benefit Tax for the corporate world. He organised several independent workshops on VAT, Service Tax and FBT which was attended by all the leading corporates in Kolkata.
As prolific writer, he contributed a large number of papers and articles on Tax Issues to various publications, including The Chartered Accountant Journal, Service Tax Today, Bombay Chartered Accountant’s Journal, Current Tax Reporter and leading newspapers like The Economic Times.

His salient achievements are:
- Panelist on various tax programmes organized by the local television channel
- Author of two books on Income Tax, both published by Wadhwa & Co, Nagpur. His first book titled is “Tax Audit – Law, Practice and Procedures with Auditor’s Responsibility” and “Business & Corporate Tax Planning – A Handbook” is a comprehensive commentary on corporate tax matters and deals with topics like Business Reorganization, MAT etc. and he also authored ” Value Added Tax in West Bengal – A Ready Reckoner”.
- Vice Chairman of State Taxes Committee of Merchant Chambers of Commerce and member in various other committees
- Member of Indirect Tax Committee of Bengal Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
He was regular columnist in ‘Sanmarg’ on Service Tax and VAT appeared on every Monday. Now the article published in ‘Sanmarg’ on every Monday by Suvidha.
